Regional EHS Manager - ABIDJAN

Camusat is a multinational company with its presence all over the world and
over 2700 employees. Since 40’s the Company has grown and developed 5 business lines such as telecom sites
construction and installation, equipment installation and commissioning, power system renewable energies, fix and
fiber optic networks and managed services, maintenance and operations. We are looking for a talented individual to

Job Purpose:

  • To decline the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Group strategy defined by the HR, CSR & EHS Group Department, control and monitor its implementation, manage and monitor its achievement within the region for the ESCO and OPCO activities,
  • To provide permanent support to the country and regional management in order to integrate EHS rules and policies in all operational processes and activities,
  • To provide his/her EHS expertise within the region with local coordination actions in the EHS field.

Job duties and responsabilities:

  • To decline EHS Group strategy defined by the HR, CSR & EHS Group Department, the control and monitor its
    implementation, manage and monitor its achievement within the region for the ESCO and OPCO activities

    • To decline EHS Group strategy in terms of objectives, actions, trainings, resources, tools, etc. in line with the regional and local management,
    • To ensure that all ESCO and OPCO activities are performed with respect of defined Group EHS recommendations and local EHS rules,
    • To perform an assessment of all the risk and impacts linked to peoples and assets involved in ESCO and OPCO operations,
    • To identify gaps and areas that need improvement in terms of EHS,
    • To report any environmental non-compliance identified,
    • To propose and support the EHS Group Department in the establishment of new EHS procedures,
    • To propose the EHS rules and processes for ESCO activities (manual of procedure including all planning and tracking templates that will be shared and used in ESCO countries),
    • To ensure a continuously follow-up on the evolution of requirements regarding environment, health, safety and work conditions in the region,
    • To be the interlocutor of all stakeholders (external auditors, investors, customers, etc.) in relation with EHS
      reporting and audits.
  • To provide permanent support to the country and regional management in order to integrate EHS rules and policies in all operational processes and activities
    • To ensure that the management teams have a good understanding of Group and local EHS policies and provide them necessary support for their implementation,
    • To oversee the application of EHS policies in the region and regularly check their compliance,
    • To confirm that EHS policies are aligned with local regulations and customers requirements,
    • To set up EHS teams in each subsidiary and train them in order to be the relays of EHS rules implementation in their related countries,
    • To propose specific tools (forms, training supports, etc.) to internal departments in order to facilitate the making decisions process, ensure the traceability and increase reliability of procedures,
    • To carry out risk assessments for subsidiaries activities in the Region,
    • To establish the working templates for planning and tracking of EHS activities in operating Opco’s,
    • To support local management in meetings with the customers to ensure that all needs are fulfilled per contract,
    • To compile all EHS data for the reporting to regional management,
    • To perform regular travels for periodic assessments and internal audits in the region to ensure that all the EHS rules are well understood and well implemented on the field.
  • To provide his/her EHS expertise within the region with local coordination actions in the EHS field
    • In closely link with HR, CSR & EHS departments, to identify EHS training needs within subsidiaries,
    • To guarantee the verification and conformity of facilities, work equipment (for instance, an handling machine) and individual and collective protection equipment,
    • To raise awareness of the management to the CSR & EHS themes and organizes awareness actions for the whole staff (eg: waste management, safety rules on sites, etc.),
    • To make sure that sub-contractors are compliant with EHS standards required,
    • To make sure that all teams to the field are well equipped with PPEs and in use,
    • To supervise regular Site inspection (Reporting/monitoring/ updating Corrective Action Plan),
    • To supervise regular Warehouse inspection (Reporting/monitoring/ updating Corrective Action Plan),
    • To oversee the requirement and order PPE, Site Safety Vinyl and Log book in timely manner,
    • To control the planning Medical Screening for the staff (internal/Outsource),
    • To control the recording of site inspection, incident, accident report, Medical Screening and training and their regular updating in the database,
    • To ensure that each ESCO operation has a valid contract with a regular company for waste and batteries
      recycling,
    • To set up local EHS teams in each subsidiary and train all operational teams to the respect of EHS policies related to their specific tasks.

Required skills and knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of E&S rules and processes in telecommunications industry,
  • Control office software packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Internet Explorer and Outlook Express,
  • Reporting skills,
  • Administrative skills,
  • Certificate in risk management, First Aid, Quality management systems,
  • Language: French, English.

Qualifications:

  • BA or MA degree in Environmental, Health and Safety with 5 to 10 years experience in:
    • EHS management in telecommunications industry in Emerging markets,
    • EHS process establishment,
    • EHS training and audits in Africa and other emerging markets.
